There’s no doubt Davis Love III still has game. As recently as 2015, the 21-time PGA Tour winner and World Golf Hall of Famer earned the title at the Wyndham Championship, becoming the third-oldest golfer ever to win a PGA Tour event.
The Plantation course at Sea Island Resort in Georgia, USA, is to undergo a redesign and renovation project led by Love Golf Design.
Aims of the work include the creation of new strategic elements on the course, while also restoring its character and routing.
Scot Sherman of Love Golf Design will lead the work, and the architect spoke to GCA about his plans for the project.
The University of Virginia Foundation recently announced that Love Golf Design, the golf course architecture firm founded by Davis Love III and his brother Mark, will build a new course on the site of the existing Birdwood Golf Course. The firm’s work on the layout is part of a multi-year improvement plan for the Boar’s Head Resort, the Virginia golf team’s facilities and the historic Birdwood Mansion.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – PGA of America President and U.S. Ryder Cup Task Force Co-Chair Derek Sprague announced today that Davis Love III has been named as the Ryder Cup Captain to guide Team USA in the 41st Ryder Cup, Sept. 27– Oct. 2, 2016, at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota. Love was the unanimous recommendation of the Ryder Cup Task Force.
